KOSCIUSZKO HUTS ASSOCIATION

Located near to Queenstown, but outside any national park.

History

Originally the hut was built by an antimony miner but then later used by piners, who were seeking the valuable King Billy Pine. The local Zeehan entrepreneur was R J Howard.

More recently it was restored by the Queenstown Venturer Unit in the late 1980's, under the stewardship of Terry Reid. Unusual in that it has cold running water inside, that turns hot once the fire is lit!
