Located at Black Mountain Track, New Yard Flat. On the Suggan Buggan map at GR070130.


Also known as New Yard Flat Hut or Dogmans.


Built about 1963 for Clyde Sykes (not Clive), then in the employ of the Crown Lands Department as a dogman, to trap feral dogs. Clyde had moved to the Black Mountain area in 1926.

Clyde passed away at the age of 99, about 1994, and is survived by his son Paul who lives in the region and his daughter Mary Morris.

Clyde wrote a book about the area, called A Man from Gelantipy.


A steeply gabled and open ended hut, built from snow gum logs 70cm in diameter.
