NPWS HUT REBUILD UPDATE

Vickery's Hut-June 2023

Construction nearly complete. Opening planned for November - date TBC

Harvey's Hut-June 2023

Repairs underway including replacing burnt wall lining and stud frame on southern wall and replacing burnt windows.

Bradley/O'Brien's-June and Sept/Oct 2023

Rebuilding has commenced with installation of safety fencing and storage shed. Prefabricated steel frame concreted into position in the snow.

Interpretation work continues and boards at Rest House and Delany's to be updated. Information for Vickery's is being gathered.

If you would like to assist with next huts please register on VIP and contact Megan if you do not get  reply email. Dates will constantly be reviewed.

NPWS is on the hunt for old door rim locks and strikers and T hinges with or without door attached. Please contact Megan on 6947 7016 if you know of any.

 CHRISTMAS  CALENDAR.

The committee will be creating a calendar again this year to be sent out with the Christmas newsletter for those that wish to have it. We don't need expressions of interest at this stage, but we are after photos to be used for the calendar.

Submissions will be accepted until 5pm on the 30th September, so there is no rush.

The final images will then be selected for use in the calendar.

KNP Snowy

Just a reminder to those members who have completed courses over the last summer, eg, Whitecard, First Aid, 4 WD course. Could you please ( if you haven't already ) add the certificates to your VIP account profile under " Additional Information". This makes it so much easier for NPWS staff and your HMO's when we need to check on volunteer's qualifications prior to attending work parties. Thanks heaps.

Namadgi

Quiet month. I am awaiting confirmation from the head Ranger at Namadgi concerning a work party for Frank and Jacks. This was meant to take place in July but has been postponed till August as long as resources can be obtained by parks. If anyone is interested please email me and I will confirm if this will go ahead. The dates are 14th to 17th, arriving on the 13th August.
