The purpose of the Bulletin is to inform members of current activities, events and operational matters only. The general intention is for the body of the Bulletin to be brief.  

 

KHA PRINTED XMAS NEWSLETTER

Members wishing to receive a printed Xmas Newsletter please contact Pauline Downing This email address is being protected from spambots. The Committee is still to decide the minimum number of Newsletters that will be printed this year so please advise  as soon as possible so we have some idea of how many members are interested. The Newsletter will of course still be emailed as usual.

 

KHA CALENDAR

A reminder that photos are currently being accepted for consideration for the KHA Calendar, to be produced at the end of the year. Please limit submissions to one photo per member and forward to Simon Plum, HMO Jagungal at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Submissions will be accepted up until 5pm on the 30th September, so you've got one more month to choose that beautiful hut photo to inspire us all.

 

NPWS HUT RE-BUILDS UPDATE 

Rebuild of Vickery's Hut is now complete and many thanks to all involved. Will organise a workparty to apply retardant and paint floor. opening planned for November. Materials to be carted into Bradley and O'Briens Hut on September 2 after which rebuild will begin and workers camping on site. Planning a workparty on 14 and 15 October to install floorboards and corrugated iron. If you are interested to attend please contact Megan  Bowden - details above.

Work to start on Brooks Hut in December.

Work parties of a minor nature which only require the caretaker or caretaker group are not listed here.  Work parties are only listed here if they require additional support from the broader KHA membership.  

KNP Tantangara

KNP Jagungal

The NPWS planning meeting will be held in mid-September between NSW NPWS and KHA. If Caretakers can start considering their work party plans for the coming Summer, that would be great. If you cannot get a work party proposal to me by the 15th September, can you please email me with a basic summary of your intentions for any work parties you wish to conduct and what you hope to achieve. That way, we can plan accordingly and discuss with the relevant rangers.

KNP Snowy

 Some caretakers have already responded regarding my request for work party intentions. Thank you for these as it helps us to plan along with NPWS the upcoming summer activities. I'll have more information following our meeting on the 16th September.

NP Namadgi

Working towards organising a work party in November at Frank and Jacks. Awaiting confirmation from NP and dates to be advised following.

A workparty may be organised early in the new year at Pryors Hut if safe to do so at the request of NP. A specialist will review the hut to let us know the outcome. Will keep you posted.

Are you interested in being the caretaker of Lutons Crutching shed ? If so  please indicate in writing  why you would like to be the caretaker and what you can contribute.   A decision will be made by the committee after reviewing the applications. Please note: Lutons Crutching Shed is in a fairly remote area in NNP. 

The WHS laws have changed and members working in Namadgi are now required to undertake a Silica Awareness Course Lauren McQueen from Park Care is looking into this for volunteers.
