KHA President Simon Buckpitt delivered a presentation to this year’s ACT region Heritage Symposium in Canberra on 13 August.

Woodskills is a weekend KHA camping event run once every two years, demonstrating colonial timbercraft and carpentry. Held at the Kellett family’s property in Wee Jasper, it’s run by volunteers for members, interested staff from NSW NPWS and ACT Parks and Conservation Service, and for Wee Jasper locals.

Builders work on hut rebuild

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service provided an update on recent work to rebuild Round Mountain Hut and the Linesman Huts.

In October 2021, the New South Wales NPWS announced the list of huts to be rebuilt, subject to environmental assessments:

The Kosciuszko Huts Association is contributing to a project managed by the Australian Alps National Parks Co-Operative Management Program to digitally capture and produce 3D digital twin models of over 100 heritage huts across the Australian Alps National Parks and Reserves of the ACT, NSW and Victoria.

Our good friends at NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service were busy in December working on Delany's Hut (aka Delany’s No. 3), battling unseasonal snow and wind to install the roof and complete other tasks.

A Return to Snowy Plain gathering was held over the weekend of 22-24 November 2024. Attending members visited Davey’s Hut, Botherim Plain Hut, a number of old hut sites, diggings and other sites of historical interest.
