Valentine Hut
Located at the top of the Munyang corridor, and under Mt Gungarten.
Brief History
The hut was originally built in the 1950s to support a surveying crew. It was called Valentine, because it was painted red, with white hearts.
It housed Snowy Mountains Authority radio communications gear, the foundations for a tall aerial structure are located on the small flat on the south side of the hut.
Construction
The hut is 4m by 3.5m, and constructed of timber and weatherboards. The roof is of iron and the floor of wood. There is a stove and windows. Outside there is a toilet and woodshed.
A steel subframe was insalled as a part of extensive reconstruction by NPWS in early 2016.
